"The Building in My Dream" is a series created by the artist who began painting a dream she had on June 6, 2019, the very next day. Through this process, the artists brings the meanings of the dream to the surface in a visual language. The artist, who has long documented her dreams in writing and interpreted the symbols within them, has chosen this time to create a visual record instead of a written one and to share this dream. In the dream, she wanders through a large, strange building where all the doors are open. The rooms both invite her inside and confine their inner worlds with their walls. As she moves through this building, she is both inside and outside. As the series progresses, the signs of the dream become more distinct. The dream itself was a metaphor for art. The observer self, who watches the rooms in the dream from the door, corresponds to the viewer who observes art from the outside. Each room is a work of art telling its own story. It is frozen in time, presenting us with astonishing, surprising, and hypnotic narratives only to the extent it wants to show us. As both an insider within the rooms and an observer, the artist is part of the ongoing cycle of this vast building. Adorned with endless rooms, this building is a mirror of the artist’s existence and experience in this world.
